Ice Age 3

First thoughts: What are they teaching kids these days?!? I was pretty sure that the dinosaurs came way way wayyyyyy before mammoths or sabre-tooths existed! Oh wells...minor gripe, but it was the first thing I noticed and commented when the trailer came out anw.

Secondly, it's a 100% family flick. It actively promotes the idea of happiness when finding your other half (as evidently shown by Scrat forever searching for his acorn and meeting into his other half too....was amused at how the ending played out for him though), the notion of children (like the mammoth main guy getting all excited about his newborn child and the 3 cute baby T-rexes) and the idea of companionship. (as evidenced by the herd the characters have formed throughout the course of the first 2 movies and the need for companionship and support within the characters)

I was more enchanted by the new character Buck though. He's this crazy loner weasel who's really gone completely wacko after spending too much time in Dino land in solitude and on his own seeking a life of adventure. Injects a fresh kind of air needed for the sequel as opposed to the softer "oh-so-safe" and predictable characters that have returned. On the other hand, I think the movie was trying to mean that everyone should have a companion / find your other half if not will end up as cracko as Buck. Wows....trying to imply that I am fast going down that route? Hmm...

Anw, overall a decent movie to catch for 6 bucks.

Commenced lo....or have I?

Feels kinda weird to not commence and graduate together with my fellow batch of chem engineers. While I was telling myself to be prepared for the decisions I made a year ago, yet somehow still can't help but feel a little odd. Nevertheless I was just glad to have finished off my FYP report (phew! and not much changes to the draft!) before heading down for the ceremony and of course seeing the elation and joy in all my friends definitely makes it worth it. Marks the end of 4 years of uni life, a long journey of education and a step out into the world outside. To the class of 2009, all the best in your future endeavors and thank you for being an integral part of my uni days!

玩具大作战

Attended a really cool toy carnival at the Arts Museum today. It was an exhibition and sale of toys, comics and a bit of cosplay here and there. Really liked the concept of free comics that was handed out to each member of the public. Hey, the admission was free too, so no complaints! Would have liked to see more vintage toys and collections being put up and displayed though. That would have been awesome! Like a mini Singapore Comic-con! Photos test taken from my new Samsung phone...still trying to figure out how to work that thing.....

And someone else from another galaxy...

Even Spidey came web-slinging down

Spidey balloon. There was an Optimus Prime one which looked super cool too!

I wonder when I will ever see this in Singapore......hmm....

Commies beer

The North Korean Taedonggang beer that honestly sounds like the name of some nuclear warhead in their missiles arsenal in my opinion. Amidst the propaganda, weird music and kinda creepy narration, the beer promises "relief of stress" to its citizens. Kinda guessing that it would taste similar to China's Tsingtao beer.

K.E as a weapon

An electromagnetic rail gun prototype that uses kinetic energy to damage. For interest's sake this same reference was used in the Transformers movie to bring down the beloved Devastator in one shot (something which I keep ranting).
