Working on the HR reflection paper where I am supposed to reflect on my work experience and relate it to the theories taught in it. One thing that hit me was the discussion on value added-ness and uniqueness to the organisation. Am I valued by the company? Do I possess skill sets that are rare such that it is unique and required by the organisation? Frankly I think in this age where most ppl graduate with a degree, it is hardly difficult to find others to replace you. So how to stay relevant?
I think the discussion can even extend to our personal lives..uniqueness and value to those around you..Am I really that special to others? Did I, at some point in time, make an impact or changed your lives? Come one day when the dust settles on our bones and we are long gone from the Earth, what will we be remembered by?
All my life I have been hearing comments by friends, ppl that I am average. Yes, just average...nothing too fantastic, yet nothing too dull.....no extremities....everything's just right....feels like some freak Taoist show with the right amount of taiji around....Is being average being valued? Or merely forgotten? Oh yes....I forgot....I am average....merely average....
Yet I think the saddest part is for one to become useless....and even more horribly so if someone has fallen so far as to become useless and yet not know he / she has become useless....that truly is the scary part...useless and oblivious......
